Baum Lake and Shingletown Meadow, Shasta County, 9/9/06

Pretty slow day. I expected Baum and Crystal Lakes to be hopping with odes. But there was barely any activity at all. One Libellula skimmer (12-spot?) and a couple of Striped Meadowhawks, several darners of three types (Common Green<<-actually lots of these--, Blue-eyed, and Aeshna sp.), and a few species of damsel (Tule Bluet, Pacific Forktail, Western Forktail). Stopped by Shingletown Meadow on the way home. Not many odes there either.

lizard

Same lizard. It got so accustomed to my presence, it started to nod off. I'd take a shot and its eyes would open all the way. By the time the flash recharged, it was napping again.
