Shasta and Tehama Counties - 5/5/07
From mid-morning to mid-afternoon on Saturday, May 5, I photographed dragonflies at Darrah Springs Fish Hatchery (Shasta County) and Deer Creek at Hwy 99E (Tehama County). It was very windy, making steady shots really difficult (the bugs were swaying on the weeds).

Young female Grappletail (DS) -- There had recently been a mass emergence of Grappltails. I've never seen them in such numbers. All the grappletail pictures on this page were taken at Darrah Springs, except the last one. |
